Im trying to look up some criminal records in the state of North Carolina, problem is, every damn where I go wants me to pay like twenty dollars just to look up one person. COurt records are public knowledge, so surely theres a website I can go to to look up things for free?

If you know the county the person is from try the county circuit clerk website. Try all county circuit clerk sites you know they have resided in.
Try the jurisdiction in which the individual lived when he was arrested. Court records are public information.
Some jurisdictions post criminal records on their websites, others don’t. You might have to go down to the court house and start your search there.
