Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss statistics from the National Employment Law Center showing that 1 in 4 adults in the United States has a criminal record. The ACLU argues that employers are discriminating against employees on this bases because a disproportionate number of those with records are African American (and non-violent drug offenders).

@Silvertrimm Do you …
@Silvertrimm Do you know what socialism is? Would you like me to fetch a dictionary?
@chaumont20 I don’t …
@chaumont20 I don’t believe in utopia. Sure other people will try them, so what. It’s their business, not mine and not yours. They own their own body, not you. Besides, a few people trying drugs is still much better then thousands of people being ruthlessly murdered in Mexico every year,plus people being killed because of drug violence in the US too. No that doesn’t make a utopia but it sure would be a lot better.
@ninetysevenecho …
@ninetysevenecho Nobody endorses the act, but as Cenk said, the system itself limits these impoverished to selling drugs (as a last resort). There are no business opportunities in the ghettos and it’s all because of this.
THIS is not just a …
THIS is not just a war on blacks, it is a war on THE POOR in general.
THE POOR are the SINGLE LARGEST demographic group in the U.S. Not the (so called) “middle class”, but those who have little or no meaningful property to speak of.
IOW not the “plebians”, but the “poletariat.”
Politically, these people are invisible. The political class throws them under the bus @ every opportunity.
And it is why this MASSIVE BODY is disenfranchised @ every turn.
aww, poor criminals …
aww, poor criminals! you know, it really sucks when you have the intention of doing the wrong thing, and then you do the wrong thing, and then you get punished for doing the wrong thing. seriously, it’s such a shame! haha, lol…
@refuckulate420 ” …
@refuckulate420 “You can’t even spell properly.” …uh, you spelled it wrong too, faggot. haha, lol…
War on drugs and …
War on drugs and power trips. It is in the interest of police to make arrests. Even citizens like to see people arrested. It just has to be the people they do not like or agree with.
@19TEC85 From what …
@19TEC85 From what I’m reading in your posts you think legalization will be a panacea for our justice system but I see many pit falls and trap doors. There is no panacea and there is no utopia. There are people who would try these drugs who normally would not if they stayed illegal and that is a unintended consequence.
@mikepike25 Okay …
@mikepike25 Okay first of all learn better grammar as you type because I have no idea what you are dribbling, and second I have the moral drive to not commit obvious crimes. Even if it werent a crime to do drugs I still wouldnt because people like you are the result of drugs and I really dont think I want your kind of intelligence aka a clump of dirt LMAO.
@MissTemperence No, …
@MissTemperence No, we’re the only developed country with this problem by a long shot. Their jails aren’t privately owned, major corporations with an army of lawyers and lobbyists.
All drugs must be …
All drugs must be legalized. Look how Mexico is in ruins because of this idiotic drug war. The drug war creates violence, it does not prevent it. War on drugs is a war on peaceful people too.
@MODERNELVISRETURNS …
@MODERNELVISRETURNS And oh course you never if question said crime is has a victim , who makes it a crime, or the reasons why they made it a crime because you’re just a brain washed drone.
@chaumont20 Under …
@chaumont20 Under that kind of logic, nothing of high value should ever be owned because somebody might steal it. Realistically speaking, if drugs were legalized they would be much cheaper once they get off the black market(smuggling drugs and avioding law enforcment makes them much more expensive, creating drug cartels). People would be less likely to resort to theft. Things get stolen, yeah, that’s life. Cars are worth thousands, they get stolen but we don’t ban them.
Simple!
Business …
Simple!
Business owner – Should be able to choose who ever he wants to hire
Non Crim Record app – Should be placed above person who has crim record, Leads by example and can follow the law.
Crim Record app – Should be look down upon; to encourage younger generations not to get in trouble.
If I don’t want to have a criminal record, I don’t brake the law. Stop telling black people its not their fault they broke the law. If you don’t like the law; then change it. The right way you socialist Fuk
@Desmaad Really …
@Desmaad Really cheap education and low paying jobs are also options, but it’s much easier to just sell dope and make a quick buck than to spend years getting an education and saving up. It’s a matter of choice. I could sell drugs and rob people as well as anybody else, I just choose not to.
Criminal records …
Criminal records should fade away over time for servility of the crime but really most drug crimes are BS, people want drugs they’ll get they get them screw prison time make them do community service just like the celebrities and give people hope again.
@19TEC85 I thought …
@19TEC85 I thought it was most pot loving peoples dream to grow their own. Isn’t that the reason for High Times magazine. I think the point I’m trying to make is if you buy the best seeds, the best equipment, spend the money on electricity, basically raise your seedling from a pup and somebody tries to steal it there’s going to be violence because your plants may be worth thousands of dollars.
The system has …
The system has failed us! The system sucks! Lets go around the system >.>
1 in 4. What …
1 in 4. What nonsense.
@Desmaad because …
@Desmaad because they are more interested in profits rather than helping them out. corruption where power is due.
@OgreMECH Hmm …
@OgreMECH Hmm agreed.
@ocelotecpatl …
@ocelotecpatl having a criminal record is not really a negative thing, well it is not really positive either. they should always like they say heck for the violent white collar offenses like rape and murder or something like that.
@Thoran666 that is …
@Thoran666 that is a stereotypes. it also turns out that australians who were banished to there were prosecuted for minor charges like stealing food products. this system is so strange.
some people just …
some people just have too much free time.
So now its bad not …
So now its bad not to deter people from breaking the law by saying they wont get a job?
