My mom passed away when i was 16 years old. My dad had been in and out of prison my whole life and was in prison at the time of my moms death. I continue to have no contact with or help from him. I was not made a ward of the court nor was i given a legal guardian. Therefor i have to file an appeal for dependent status with financial aid and provide an arrest record for my dad and a death certificate for my mother.
how can i find a copy of my moms death certificate and my dads arrest records to prove I was on orphan for fin?

Your Mom’s death certificate should be available through the Department of Vital Statistics in the state where she died. I am really surprised that arrest records are required for financial aid, but you should contact the district attorney’s office to begin that search
